About the Valley Youth Soccer League (VYSL)

Founded in 1982, the Valley Youth Soccer League (VYSL) is a premier non-profit recreational soccer organization dedicated to serving families in Northwest Fresno, California. Established as a grassroots cooperative by a dedicated coalition of community parents and volunteer coordinators, VYSL was built on a simple, enduring mission: to provide an accessible, uniform, and community-driven framework where young athletes can fall in love with the game.

Today, VYSL operates as a unique umbrella organization comprising approximately 14 independent local neighborhood clubs. While each club is managed locally by its own dedicated Club Coordinator, we unite under a shared commitment to player development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. We proudly serve youth players aged 4 through 19 (U6 to U19), transforming local regional parks and elementary school fields across the northwest region—including Biola, Harvest, and Herndon-Barstow—into vibrant spaces for growth and community connection.

Our roots run deep in the Central Valley’s rich soccer history. Influenced by the region’s early soccer pioneers and fueled by the cultural diversity of Fresno’s community, VYSL remains steadfastly focused on recreational play. We believe soccer should be fun, affordable, and inclusive. By prioritizing fundamental skill-building over elite exclusivity, we ensure that every child has a place to play, a team to support them, and a community to grow with.
